Another Busy Week Done & Dusted Here at Altru Towers!
The Eyes Open team were continuing the tour throughout the North West. On Monday they visited Harwood Park Primary in Lancashire. They loved the show and found the workshops really useful. They were with one of our most regular client’s on Tuesday – St Anne’s Stanley in Old Swan. This is the first time they had booked Eyes Open and they learnt lots about the causes and consequences of drug and alcohol misuse. On Wednesday they headed to St Clare’s Primary in Higher Blackley, Manchester. Thursday was Croxteth Community Primary and then St Matthew’s in Warrington before having a well deserved day off on Friday!
Tash delivered one of her all time favourite Play in a Days just round the corner from us in Huyton-with-Roby – The Pool of Life! This is a great topic and is all about Liverpool history. As well as having some great costumes, the children learn lots and lots of local facts and there is also a great music playlist for the performance at the end of the day! Other Play in a Days that were out last week included A Midsummer Night’s Dream (after all it was midsummer’s day), Florence Nightingale and the Great Fire of London.
Darren is thoroughly enjoying the after school club we now run every Tuesday in Bleak Hill Primary in St Helen’s. This is something we’ve wanted to launch for a while now and it’s going brilliantly! The children love it and it has grown in size in just a few short weeks. We’re hoping to launch more of these in the future so watch this space!
Gemma was in Clarendon Road Primary in Manchester on Wednesday as usual. She’s working with KS1 children every week on the topic of Where We Live. The children are loving it and always look forward to Gemma’s arrival on a Wednesday!
Kate was honoured to be invited to the Merseyside Woman of the Year Awards by the Knowsley Chamber of Commerce, as a guest on their table. Kate had a great afternoon and was touched by some of the inspiring stories that were told
As part of our ongoing project, In Our Own Words, Katie, Aiden and Kate were in The Heath School in Halton, delivering some literacy sessions with Year 7s. The sessions focussed on Inspiring Writing and the aim is for every child to have written at least one story during the workshop. Over the past 6 weeks, we’ve been in two other schools, also working on writing stories with the children. Kate & Katie will then go away, read every single story and select a number of them to turn into a show! The rehearsal process starts this week – more news on how it went on next week’s page!
