Clarion Housing
Explore the theme of online safety with young people aged 14-24. Provide the opportunity to identify, discuss and mitigate challenging situations. Help illustrate the ways in which online experiences can impact wellbeing and mental health.
We partnered with Clarion Housing to deliver a programme of work across the UK exploring Digital and Online Safety and Wellbeing.
The project, called Digital Futures, was developed to directly address the brief and aims to support young people aged 14 – 24 as they navigate the online world.
As well as exploring online safety and security, the project has a focus on wellbeing – giving young people the chance to think about how their actions online make positive or negative contributions to their own, and others, mental health.
The programme involves 3 monologues delivered by actors playing young characters who have all had a problem online.
Olivia is being bullied online.
Aaron is dealing with the impact of his sister’s online grooming experience.
Nadia is politically active – and one of her tweets goes too far.
Young people hear all 3 monologues, each of which is accompanied by a workshop activity exploring the events they have just seen and what the character needs to do or could have done to protect their online safety and wellbeing.
The whole session ends with a plenary where young people are asked to offer advice to the characters and to make a pledge for something they will do to make the online world better for everyone.
The programme was delivered in 5 areas of the UK.
The workshops were interesting and thought provoking… a thoroughly enjoyable event.
I could relate to Olivia’s story a lot and it made me feel less alone in the world…the fact that looks aren’t everything.
