Another great week here at Altru HQ!
The Eyes Open tour has finally come to an end, we’ll miss the team popping in for chats and cups of tea! The response has been brilliant and we have quite a lot of booking for next year’s tour so overall it has been a massive success. Thanks to our wonderful team, Barry, Keshia and Kate for bringing the show to life, the message is pretty hard hitting and they managed to tackle it both sensitively and humorously. Well done!
We were working with Year 6 again on a Transition play in a day and some transition workshops. The children found the work really useful and one child even said he is looking for to September now rather than being nervous! We couldn’t wish for a better outcome than that. The Year 6 teacher said:
“Excellent! The children thoroughly enjoyed and feel less worried and anxious now. Nicole was great, enthusiastic and approachable. Children feel much more confident about secondary, less fears and children enjoyed talking things through. A fun, dynamic way to approach the subject. Brilliant – 10/10.”
In Our Own Words, the creative literacy project we have been working on also drew to a close this week – and it certainly went out with a bang! The show was absolutely brilliant and the children were completely engrossed from beginning to end. All the stories featured in the show were written by the classes we worked with and we didn’t change them at all, it was all their own words – hence the name of the project. What amazing young writers they are!
We also had another Olympics play in a day booked in for Year 5 in Millbrook Primary in Tameside. Year 5 had such a great day and can’t wait for the games to start in August. Their teacher, Mr Kay said:
“Really enjoyable. Children got to learn about the Olympics and put on a performance. They learnt facts in a practical way.”
That’s all for this week but tune in next week for more Altru news!
