Home School Workshops English A Midsummer Night’s Dream

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Bring the story of A Midsummer Night’s Dream to life in your school hall through an engaging and participatory drama workshop. Your pupils will play the Lovers, the Mechanicals and the Fairies as they develop their understanding of the story and language, learning about this famous Shakespeare play in a practical and creative way.

If you are studying A Midsummer Night’s Dream with your pupils, then a drama workshop is the ideal way to get them up on their feet exploring the story, characters, themes and settings of the play as well as exploring Shakespeare’s language through activities which are specifically designed to be age-appropriate and accessible.

Our drama workshops give children the opportunity to explore the whole plot of the play and learn about the characters through engaging and fun drama activities and games which make the story and Shakespeare’s language memorable and engaging.

For Key Stage 1 workshops, we focus more specifically on the fairies and this element of the story in order to keep the workshop clear and accessible.

Getting the best out of your A Midsummer Night’s Dream drama workshop

Our workshops need to take place in the school hall ideally, securing this space for the day of the workshop will help it run really smoothly (we can absolutely move into a classroom for lunchtime set up if needed)
Make sure a teacher or TA will be present in the workshop to support the pupils and help us understand their needs.
If you would like pupils to dress up we are happy for you to do this! We don’t provide costumes (as we don’t feel they are needed for the learning to take place) but we can always help with ideas of what to wear if you want to do this.
