THE POOL OF LIFE IN A DAY (Local History of Liverpool)

The Pool of Life in a Day was developed for a number of schools in the Liverpool area who wanted to explore Local History at KS2, but since then we’ve delivered the day all over the country – it seems everyone is interested in the city! And we’ve also developed a KS1 version of the day, so that everyone can take part and learn about the history of Liverpool.

Across a full school day children will develop their knowledge, skills and confidence  as they learn about the history of Liverpool from the ice age to King John and up to the modern day, including the Beatles, football, important buildings and more!

LEARN AND PRESENT:

For one class of children.  Perfect for deeper learning or as a wow starter!

A Learn and Present day is a fun way to learn and a really engaging day that motivates  and inspires your pupils. They’ll spend a full day with one of our practitioners, doing drama activities, playing games, singing songs, and having loads of fun. Across the day they’ll explore the history of Liverpool including its geography, culture and people.

At the end of the day the class present their learning as a performance with music, costumes and props to an invited audience of parents and the rest of the school.  It’s loads of fun and the chance to share their learning helps to make the experience memorable and meaningful for pupils. Schools are consistently amazed at what we manage to achieve with their pupils in one day.

EXPLORE:

A day of workshops for up to 4 classes of children.

The Explore format is perfect for larger schools as it gives you up to 4 workshops in one school day.  Each class works on the Pool of Life / Liverpool History topic – they learn historical information, facts, dates and about key figures.  They also spend time thinking about how life has changed over the centuries and how decisions made in the distant past impact their lives today. All learning is delivered through drama games and activities which makes the workshops fun and accessible to all.

You can also build an EXPLORE day with 4 different topics based on the needs of each class.

“The workshops covered a lot of information in one day, which children can apply to other areas of the curriculum. The pupils had a very enjoyable day working in different groups and taking part in lots of drama activities. 10/10” Alison Guet, Y6 Teacher, Holy Family Catholic Primary
