We all cried in horror when Stone Age to Iron Age was introduced to the curriculum. How would we ever cover it with Year 3? But actually, in the last few years, it has become one of our favourite and most popular topics.
We offer a Play in a Day on the Stone Age to Iron Age theme which is perfect for one Year 3 class to participate in. Pupils immerse themselves in the time and learn loads about tools, farming, hunting, homes, families and traditions. At the end of the day, they bring all of their learning together by showcasing a performance for the whole school to watch (and parents too). And of course they get to wear fake fur, sing songs, learn facts and have loads of fun!
Each Play in a Day comes with a resource pack of ideas for follow up work and we’ve got one to share with you here, for free! Feel free to download, print and use in your classrooms – and let us know how you get on with it, we’re always keen to find out! It’s a quick True or False activity, which could be printed out or popped up on the whiteboard for full class use and could provoke some interesting discussions!
If you’re currently planning your work on Stone Age to Iron Age, feel free to give us a call for a chat about how drama could support your work. We find that working creatively can really bring this subject to life and make it a really exciting topic for pupils.
