Ancient Sumer

Explore the dawn of civilisation with an exciting and participatory drama workshop which helps children learn all about Ancient Sumer.

The civilisation of Ancient Sumer is explored through creative activities which allow pupils to learn about how people lived and the innovations and developments of the time, all while building their communication and speaking and listening skills as well as their confidence.

Children play the farmers in the fertile crescent, learn about life in early Sumerian schools and discover the tale of Gilgamesh as they use their imaginations and creativity to explore history in new and innovative ways.

Getting the best out of your Ancient Sumer drama workshop

Our workshops need to take place in the school hall ideally, securing this space for the day of the workshop will help it run really smoothly (we can absolutely move into a classroom for lunchtime set up if needed)
Make sure a teacher or TA will be present in the workshop to support the pupils and help us understand their needs.
If you would like pupils to dress up we are happy for you to do this! We don’t provide costumes (as we don’t feel they are needed for the learning to take place) but we can always help with ideas of what to wear if you want to do this.
