Home School Workshops PSHE British Values

British Values

We love helping children to learn about British Values – and using drama to teach the 5 fundamental British Values can really bring the subject to life for children, helping them develop their understanding, empathy, opinions and values.

If you’re looking to explore British Values – either with one class, or the whole school – we can provide fun and engaging drama sessions which make the concepts of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance easy to understand and relate to.

Through specially planned creative activities, our workshops help children learn about the world around them and their place within it. And they leave the session knowing how they can contribute to a happier and fairer society.

Topics covered

We are currently offering workshops focused on democracy in the lead up to the election. If you would like to book a workshop to help pupils learn about this important part of British life then get in touch. We can work with 4 x KS2 classes in a day.
The session is not poitical and we will not be advocating for a particular party - it's simply about exploring the democractic process in the UK.

If you book a British Values drama workshop, we will ask you whether you’d like your session to focus on one of the fundamental British Values or if you’d like our overview workshop. Our overview workshop covers the following information:
Democracy, including the House of Commons, House of Lords, who can vote and the importance of voting.
The Rule of Law, including who makes and implements the laws and why we all have to follow the rule of law.
Individual Liberty, including exploring the choices we all make and how our individual liberty interacts with the rule of law.
Mutual Respect, including how we treat people and recognising the value of other people.
Tolerance for other faiths and beliefs, including information about hate crime and protected characteristics.
All of our workshops are completely inclusive, so all children can get involved and achieve.

Getting the best out of your British Values drama workshop

Our workshops need to take place in the school hall ideally, securing this space for the day of the workshop will help it run really smoothly (we can absolutely move into a classroom for lunchtime set up if needed)
Make sure a teacher or TA will be present in the workshop to support the pupils and help us understand their needs.
If you would like pupils to dress up we are happy for you to do this! We don’t provide costumes (as we don’t feel they are needed for the learning to take place) but we can always help with ideas of what to wear if you want to do this.
