Shang Dynasty

Bring the Shang Dynasty to life for your pupils through an engaging and participatory drama workshop where pupils explore the rich history of the time through role play, performance and creativity.

Through drama activities, children develop their understanding of this ancient civilisation, exploring how people lived, worshipped and farmed during the time. They spend time learning about Fu Hao and her importance to our understanding of the Shang Dynasty and have the opportunity to explore the different classes of people who made up society at the time.

We use exciting and fun drama activities and games in our workshops, all themed around the topic and designed to develop pupils understanding and engagement in this period of history,

Getting the best out of your Shang Dynasty drama workshop

Our workshops need to take place in the school hall ideally, securing this space for the day of the workshop will help it run really smoothly (we can absolutely move into a classroom for lunchtime set up if needed)
Make sure a teacher or TA will be present in the workshop to support the pupils and help us understand their needs.
If you would like pupils to dress up we are happy for you to do this! We don’t provide costumes (as we don’t feel they are needed for the learning to take place) but we can always help with ideas of what to wear if you want to do this.
