World War I

Give your pupils the chance to creatively explore World War I through an engaging and participatory drama workshop which explores the causes, impact and human toll of this period of British and World history.

If you are studying the First World War with your class, then a drama workshop can really support your pupils’ learning and development, building their understanding of dates, facts and figures whilst increasing their confidence and love of learning.

Our World War I drama workshops are full of creative ideas which give children lots to think about, explore and reflect on as they step into the shoes of those living between 1914 and 1918 and learn about the events of the time, the key historical figures, how ordinary people were impacted by the war and the poetry which was so integral to the experience.

Getting the best out of your World War I drama workshop

Our workshops need to take place in the school hall ideally, securing this space for the day of the workshop will help it run really smoothly (we can absolutely move into a classroom for lunchtime set up if needed)
Make sure a teacher or TA will be present in the workshop to support the pupils and help us understand their needs.
If you would like pupils to dress up we are happy for you to do this! We don’t provide costumes (as we don’t feel they are needed for the learning to take place) but we can always help with ideas of what to wear if you want to do this.
