This summer we’ll be touring schools, community venues & libraries with our brand new adaptation of Rumpelstiltskin.

Our new retelling of the classic story breathes new life into the characters and their adventures, making it relevant for modern audiences and loads of fun. We’ve been touring shows at Christmas for the last decade and we’re so excited to bring the sparkle, drama, magic and mayhem of those shows to the summer months.

Rumpelstiltskin will be performed by two actors, with live original music, audience participation and all the joy and theatrical quality you’d expect from an Altru performance. And, of course, we’ll be using the book and original text throughout to encourage creativity and reading for pleasure.

Tour dates are 18th June – 31st August 2024.

The performance is 40 minutes long and suitable for the whole family.

In schools the performance will include an interactive workshop to support chidlren's literacy skills as well as their creativity, speaking and listening and oracy.

At Altru we’re passionate about encouraging children to read both modern and classic literature. We believe that avid readers make great writers, creators and thinkers – and that there’s a story out there for everyone.

Is the play suitable for everyone in school?

Yes – everyone from Nursery to Year 6. They will all enjoy it and have a great time! This performance includes an interactive workshop, so the audience is limited to 3 classes. We can perform the play 3 times across the school day.

How long does the play last?

40 minute performance with a 20 minute workshop afterwards for the whole audience.

How long do you need to set up?

The team need around 25 minutes in the hall to set up. In the afternoon, we are happy to do this at one end of the hall, while lunchtime is still being cleaned up.

Do school need to provide anything?

All we need is the hall and an audience. We bring everything else!

Are staff DBS checked?

Absolutely. All Altru staff have enhanced disclosures which can be sent to you prior to the show and the team will have them with them on the day.

Are the team professional actors?

They are indeed! We only work with professional actors who are used to touring schools and engaging children in theatre.

Do you have insurance?

We do. We have 5 million Public Liability Insurance. A copy of our insurance certificate is always with the acting team for you to view in school.

Can we make a provisional booking?

We can hold a date for you for 24 hours, so that you have time to check the date with everyone in school.

We are a big school – can we have 2 or 3 performances in one day?

Yes you can! Give us a call to discuss the options.
