Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a Christmas show and this year, Altru will not disappoint! We have, not one, but TWO Christmas shows touring primary schools this year up and down the country.
But what are they, I hear you ask? We like to stay away from traditional pantos and take a more literacy based focus – so with that in mind, the shows we’ve adapted in our own style are Wind in the Willows (a favourite from last year) and The Emperor’s New Clothes (brand new for this year).
Rehearsals for both shows were well under way last week and continue into this week for The Emperor’s New Clothes team. We waved our lovely Wind in the Willows off on Tuesday evening as they embarked on a tour of the South! The Emperor’s New Clothes is touring primary schools in the North West and will be off this Wednesday.
Both shows are really fun and interactive, all the songs featured are original and we’ve had a brand new set designed as well as some new stage lights! Very exciting and we really can’t wait to hear about how the tour goes! We had a great response last year. Mr Simpson, a teacher in Heald Place Primary in Manchester, loved the performance:
“Fantastic – children really enjoyed it – really loved being able to join in and followed the story. Great characters, kids loved singing to the music. Thanks. 10/10.”
In other news we have our lovely little EYFS adaption of Hansel & Gretel out last week and also this week. This is a new project developed specifically for early years and has went down a treat with the schools we visited! This project will definitely be making an appearance again in 2017 so do get in touch for more details about how to book.
