Anti-Bullying Week 2016

Last week has been our busiest period of the year so far! It was all go for the final preparations for anti-bullying week 2016 and we were busy busy busy!

We have three anti-bullying performances on tour as usual this year and all three rehearsed in our new Altru HQ building and we loved having all of the actors milling around, preparing for the shows.

Anti-Bullying Alliance Theme

The theme this year is ‘Power is for Good’ and has the following key aims:

  • To support children and young people to use their Power for Good – by understanding the ways in which they are powerful  and encouraging individual and collective action to stop bullying and create the best world possible.
  • To help parents and carers to use their Power for Good – through supporting children with issues relating to bullying and working together with schools to stop bullying.
  • To encourage all teachers, school support staff and youth workers to use their Power for Good– by valuing the difference they can make in a child’s life, and taking individual and collective action to prevent bullying and create safe environments where children can thrive.

We have a brand new show this year – Superhero School as well two that we have toured before and proved very popular, You, Me & Us and Noise Keepers.

Superhero School takes the anti-bullying alliance’s theme and turns it into an accessible, fun and engaging 45 minute performance for the whole school.

If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be? Could you scale a building in a single leap? Shoot fire from your fingertips? Make yourself invisible?

If you had the power to stop meanness, prevent hurt and banish bullying – would you do it? Max is about to find out!

Superhero School is our newest anti-bullying play, following on from last year’s, Noise Keepers. The play explores, how we can use our ‘power for good’ to stop and prevent bullying, keep ourselves and others safe and make our schools fantastic places to be!

Thanks to all three teams for working super hard to ensure the shows were engaging, fun and educational for all the children who get to see them – we’ve had some amazing feedback already!
