One of our newest staff members, Nicole, delivered a Mayans Play in a Day in Burtonwood Primary on Wednesday. Nicole was working with Year 4 and they loved it, especially the performance at the end of the day! This a really great Play in a Day with a fun music playlist as well as some great costumes – every child get to dress in a traditional Mayan dress! The class teacher, Tracey Conterio, also really enjoyed the day and gave us this feedback:
“Lovely, exciting day – thank-you. The children don’t even know they are learning. Lots of new knowledge – what the Mayans invented, about Gods and sacrifice. Lots of information in a very fun and engaging way. 10/10.”
We were in Denton West End Primary School In Manchester on Monday & Tuesday – Tash & Alice were working with key stage 2 on various aspects of British Values including democracy, individual liberty and mutual respect. The workshops were planned with each topic in mind and included loads of interesting information about political parties, how laws are made, the make-up of the UK and what rights and responsibilities mean for us all. Each class across key stage 2 received a workshop and the sessions created a real buzz in school. Miss Smith, one of two year 5 teachers gave their workshop 10/10 and said:
“The children really enjoyed the workshop and learnt a lot from it. It also created some good discussion amongst them. The children enjoyed it so they listened and were more willing to learn. They learnt that all people in the UK have the same amount of rights, no matter who they are, they learnt what ‘individual liberty’ means and what rights they have. 10/10.”
We love delivering British Values sessions and ensuring these are fun, engaging and easy for children to understand.
Meanwhile, we were back at St Robert Bellarmine in Bootle working with EYFS on Pirate theme workshops – the children were all dressed up as pirates, and so were the teachers! Fantastic!
Our E-Safety tour, Tangled Web, came to an end on Friday and what a response we’ve had! The team did a fantastic job and we’ve received some of our best feedback ever. We are now in the process of developing Dot-co-dot-OK, our new E-Safety performance which will coincide with Safer Internet Day 2017 and we’re working on bringing Tangled Web back too, so that more children across the country can benefit from its message. We are now taking bookings for Dot-co-dot-OK, so get in touch if you would like to secure your slot!
Happy half term everyone – we’ll see you next week!
