We’ve had lots going on since the beginning of term a couple of weeks ago!
It’s been great to get stuck into another school year and what better way to do it than a day filled with casting?! We have 3 anti-bullying shows going out as usual in November and we’ve now found our lovely actors and directors for all of them. We can’t wait to get stuck in and start the rehearsal process!
The shows touring the country this year are: You, Me & Us, The Noise Keepers and our brand new production, Superhero School. Here’s a little bit about each of them:
You, Me and Us is a performance for children in key stage 1 and 2, which explores bullying and difference.
Charlie has always thought of himself as different. His mum calls him special. His teacher says he’s unique. Deep down Charlie thinks being different is a bad thing – and he wishes everyone was exactly the same.
One day Charlie gets his wish – as he wakes up in a world where everything is grey, everyone has to play the same games and eat the same foods. There’s no colour, light or excitement in this new world and soon Charlie begins thinking that maybe difference isn’t so bad after all!
Miss Roberts from High Oakham Primary in Nottinghamshire said:
“Thoroughly enjoyable. Pupils were enthusiastic about the show and workshop. You had a lovely manner and catered brilliantly for all pupils (particularly one with SEN). Very valuable – pupils said that they learned that it is good to be different. Thank-you! 10/10.”
The Noise Keepers performance will transport your pupils to the world of The Noise Keepers – where every noise must be boxed, kept and categorised for future reference. There they’ll meet Bert, who is head of the Childhood Noises Division. Bert loves his job because children make the most interesting noises.
One day Bert receives a box containing no noise at all and so he begins an adventure to help Scarlet – a little girl struggling to tell anyone about the problems she’s having at school.
Nichola Horsley, SENCO/PSHE Coordinator, Garrett Hall Primary, Manchester said:
“Outstanding. Pitched perfectly for both KS1 & KS2. Would highly recommend!”
Superhero School takes the anti-bullying alliance’s theme and turns it into an accessible, fun and engaging performance for the whole school. If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be? Could you scale a building in a single leap? Shoot fire from your fingertips? Make yourself invisible? If you had the power to stop meanness, prevent hurt and banish bullying – would you do it? Max is about to find out!
Superhero School is our newest anti-bullying play, following on from last year’s, The Noise Keepers. The play explores, how we can use our ‘power for good’ to stop and prevent bullying, keep ourselves safe and make our schools fantastic places to be!
We have limited slots available for all 3 shows – get in touch to find out which one is in your area.
That’s all for this week – we’ll be back next Monday for some more Altru news!
